  • Electronic Death Pronouncement Process Update
December 21, 2023

RVRS has updated the timeline for the new electronic death reporting system. The new system is on track for a tentative April 2024 launch of the death certificate module of the Massachusetts Vital Records Information Collaborative (MAVRIC) system. The exact date will be announced in the coming weeks.

To ensure pronouncers are familiar with MAVRIC and are ready to use it upon launch, it is imperative to complete enrollment in TRAIN Massachusetts. This will enable access to the MAVRIC training program when it becomes available in February. If you have not completed TRAIN Massachusetts enrollment, please email us now at DPH-TRAINHelp@mass.gov.

Currently accessible on TRAIN Massachusetts are demonstration videos and supplementary videos that offer insights into the new system, though they do not include the full training that will be required. TRAIN is a learning platform hosted by the Public Health Foundation, providing access to training opportunities from the CDC, and many other agencies and jurisdictions across the country.

The MAVRIC training will include role-specific webinars, quick start guides, instructions and guidance, and short task-oriented videos. To learn about MAVRIC and its new features, please see Frequently Asked Questions document here.
