  • Urgent Action Alert: Call Your Legislators to the Support the Nursing Facility Recovery and Sustainability Proposal
October 21, 2021

Massachusetts legislators are expected to begin debate of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding next week. We need your urgent support for Massachusetts Senior Care Association’s Nursing Facility Recovery and Sustainability Proposal. Please call your State Representative and State Senator and ask them to support the Nursing Facility Recovery and Sustainability proposal which would make a historic $559 million investment in three fundamental areas: workforce, quality resident care and experience and modernizing the infrastructure of nursing facilities. This is a unique opportunity to allocate American Rescue Plan Act federal funds and surplus state funding to support nursing facility residents, their families and caregivers following the pandemic.

Action Steps - Call Your State Representative and Senator Now!

Please ask your colleagues and friends to join you taking action today.

  1. Find Your Legislators

To find the contact information of your State Representative and State Senator, please click here. If you need help with locating your legislators, please contact Jennifer Chen at Mass Senior Care Association.

  1. Call Your Legislators – Use the Sample Talking Points

To assist you in calling your legislators, below is a sample script. You most likely will speak to an aide, who will pass your message along to the legislators.

“Hello. My name is __________ and I am calling from (Name of Nursing Facility or City/Town) to ask the (REPRESENTATIVE/SENATOR) to please support Massachusetts Senior Care Association’s Nursing Facility Recovery and Sustainability Proposal. The proposal would provide vital investments for nursing facilities to retain their dedicated workforce, hire critically needed new staff, invest in quality resident care, and modernize nursing facility infrastructure. This will allow us to continue caring for and protecting our Commonwealth’s seniors and most vulnerable citizens. Thank you for your consideration.”

  1. Complete the Participation Form and Share Your Feedback

Mass Senior Care staff is actively tracking the progress of member calls and any feedback you receive. Once you have made the call(s), please complete the participation form.

Thank you for your continued advocacy!
