Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is underway May 6-12, 2023, with a theme of “You Make a Difference.” MSCA extends our heartfelt appreciation to all nurses who have dedicated their career and talents to ensure the residents of MA nursing facilities receive the highest quality care.  We salute each of you and look forward to the many celebrations as nurses are honored for the difference they make in the lives of residents, family members and coworkers.

As part of National Nurses Week, the 20th Anniversary issue of the Boston Globe Salute to Nurses was published on May 7th and included several nurses from long term care facilities. Congratulations to the following nurses who were recognized in this year’s tribute by family members and colleagues.

Vinea Price, Briarwood Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center
Vinea gave our family member suffering from terminal cancer extraordinary daily care in every way possible. She demonstrated nursing skills in a consistent manner to the patient and extended great communication and care equally to our family. Her genuine compassion helped her patient face life’s most difficult challenge with dignity. Our gratitude is beyond words, and we can’t think of a better nurse to nominate for this recognition.

Debbie Anastopoulos, New England Homes for the Deaf
Debbie is the nurse that you want caring for your family members. Interacting with her is like being with my family. She spends time with her patients, making them feel not only well, but cared for. She puts her all into her work and takes pride in being a nurse.
