  • Supportive Planning and Operations Team (SPOT) Initiative Update
March 29, 2018

The Supportive Planning and Operation Team (SPOT) Initiative is a collaborative effort to support nursing home teams to develop effective quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) programs. Effective quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) programs can prevent adverse events, promote safety and quality, and reduce risks to residents and caregivers.  With funding from Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services, The Bureau of Health Care Safety and Quality (BHCSQ) of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (BHCSQ) launched the Initiative in 2016.  The Department and the SPOT Team members have received several requests for educational materials and tools used during SPOT activities. Information about SPOT and these resources are now available on the Department’s website at:  https://www.mass.gov/service-details/nursing-home-quality-improvement-initiatives.  Questions about this initiative may be directed to Katherine Fillo, PhD, RN-BC, Director of Clinical Quality Improvement, at Katherine.Fillo@massmail.state.ma.us.
