RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts 2022 Fall Forum

RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts (RecyclingWorks) is hosting a forum that will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, November 9th from 10:00am to 12:00pm. This is a great opportunity for businesses to learn about waste reduction and recycling opportunities, including waste disposal ban updates for food waste, textiles, and mattresses!  Here is the link to register.

RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts Offers Free Waste Reduction Assistance

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Solid Waste Master Plan establishes goals to reduce disposal statewide by 30 percent over the next decade, with a long-term goal of achieving a 90 percent reduction in disposal by 2050. Among its strategies for reaching these objectives, the MassDEP announced the following changes to its current waste disposal bans, effective November 1, 2022:

  • Lowering the threshold on commercial organic/food waste to facilities generating more than one-half ton of these materials per week; and
  • Adding mattresses and textiles to the list of materials banned from disposal in Massachusetts.

RecyclingWorks in Massachusetts is a MassDEP-funded program that offers free technical assistance to help Massachusetts businesses and institutions reduce waste. RecyclingWorks experts can guide your organization in implementing or expanding existing programs before these changes go into effect. Contact RecyclingWorks to learn more: 888-254-5525 or info@recyclingworksma.com.
